About Us
Established in 2004 we are a Not-for-Profit organization whose goals are to develop, support and promote programs and educational initiatives that enrich the lives of youths. Additionally, the Fund supports collaborative efforts among educational institutions, youth organizations, and faith-based groups.
All proceeds from the Annual Ray Mickens Celebrity Golf Tournament go to support the Champions Fund programs. This wonderful outreach program supports the Reading Contest, which is geared toward middle school students who are encouraged to read books and write essays related to their reading to win an NFL Weekend, and the Mentoring Program which aims to motivate all high school students to continue their education beyond graduation.
Without a doubt, one of El Paso’s highest-profile fundraising events is The Ray Mickens Celebrity Weekend. In 2010, we surpassed the previous six years’ attendance at our free football camp and health fair with 568 kids from the community enjoying free food, free posters, NFL grab bags, and autographs! Our golf tournament has also drawn celebrities and sponsors from across the country to support the El Paso community. The Celebrity Weekend provides quality-of-life activities that our city deserves!
